Fun Fun Fun Fest 2012

In 2011, Austin’s sixth annual Fun Fun Fun Fest moved from the city’s small, tucked away Waterloo Park to Auditorium Shores, a sprawling green space along Lady Bird Lake downtown. Well, theoretically green—the ground cover had worn such that the dirt underneath was turned up, and thousands of feet created massive clouds of dust that hung thick around boots and heads. But instead of complaining or leaving or demanding refunds, most fans in attendance used the conditions to develop a fashion movement of every variety of face bandana, such that the whole place looked like a convention of creative train bandits. This year, the grass was newly planted, but many people were continuing the trend as of opening afternoon on Friday, wandering through relatively clear air with faces covered in solidarity.

By Saturday, though, the bandanas were a little more utilitarian, as Friday night had drawn more feet to the fest than in any previous year’s first night. Fun Fun Fun 2012’s second day didn’t have the glitz of a raving, hair-cutting Val Kilmer (although director Terrence Malick’s crew was spotted toting gear in what looked like a baby carriage), but did have plenty of the music that everyone came for.

Sparsely attended but very much worth noting was the Orange Stage’s first set of the day from The Golden Boys, a local Austin rock band who put out one of this year’s very best but underhyped records, Dirty Fingernails. It’s hooky, raucous, vintage garage that the band played full throttle, even though only a couple dozen people managed to get out of bed for the 11:50 a.m. set.

Was Obama's comet a one-time thing?

So it comes down to this: On Tuesday, the president who can't possibly win re-election confronts the challenger who can't possibly beat him. Licensed, as I am, to pump gas and commit punditry in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, I am obligated to make a prediction. Or, in other words: It's time to guess.

Three weeks ago, on NBC's "Meet the Press," I ventured that something happened at that Denver debate beyond President Barack Obama not showing up for work. The president, I noted, had never run a campaign to get re-elected, just a campaign to stop the other guy, Mitt Romney, from getting elected. When the Romney who arrived to debate was not the sulfur-breathing demon the president had led us to expect, Obama was left with no campaign at all. "This is a man with two empty holsters," I noted. "His campaign could collapse."

Paella de Valenciana-Hispanic Heritage Month Blog Hop

I am joining the Hispanic Heritage Month Blog Hop and I am so excited. Gonna cook my father's recipe Paella de Valenciana the easy way.

I was so excited preparing  the grocery list while watching  the Texas news together with my cute little nephews. They love to push the carts with ingredients to the paella valenciana.

The secret of  a great Tasting Paella Valenciana is the sticky rice.

Buy the best sticky rice available in your place.

I prepared two types of Paella Valenciana base on its ingredients.

Usually It's mixed sea foods but if it's not available then you can do chicken and pork with liver.

Boiled the chicken and pork separately until tender.

Clean the rice with water and cook it using a rice cooker. Use the broth of the chicken.

Others use Sprite to cook the sticky rice.
It will make the rice more flavorful.
Don't forget to add small amounts of Curry powder for the yellow color.
Saute the chicken. Add some salt, pepper, soy sauce  to taste.

Add the peas, garbanzos, raisins, red bell peppers.

I set aside half of the chicken valenciana since some of my family members don't eat liver and pork.

Saute the pork and the liver. may sure the pork is tender.

Add this to the half portion of the chicken valenciana.

Boil some eggs and add it on top for presentation.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Texas Sports-When Adrian Beltre's ninth-inning homer off closer Ernesto Frieri bounced up the tunnel behind the left-field fence, the Los Angeles Angels realized another chunk of their fading playoff hopes had just left the building as well.

Beltre hit a tiebreaking two-run shot after Yu Darvish and Zack Greinke dueled through eight innings, and the Texas Rangers dealt yet another blow to their AL West rivals with a 3-1 victory Thursday night.

Texas Most Hated Town for Illegal Immigrants Renters

Texas News- Dallas, Texas Farmers Branch will try for the second time to ban illegal immigrants renters as local citizens will have their voices heard this coming Wednesday with a group of conservative judges to prohibit illegal immigrants from occupying rented homes on their neighborhood and co-exist with their community as legitimate individuals.

This costly legal battle amounting to $6 million has been going on for four years now when Texas Farmers Branch Town was brought to Court after they approved a resolution to provide local authorities the power to evict illegal immigrants from renting homes.

The case is being heard by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, consisting of ten active judges appointed by Republican presidents and five from the Democrats.

As of the moment the ordinance is not being implemented by Farmers Branch Texas community but on the second try they might have a chance for the passage of the resolution with the approval of the Courts of Appeal.

The Farmers branch resolution requires all renters to go to the City and fill up a license form of 5$ fee for their legal status checked.

Then the city's building inspector will check their immigrant status and those found to be illegal will be denied renter's permit. Home and apartment owners that will be found allowing illegal immigrants to stay will be fines or have their licensed cancelled.

Most of the resolution was rejected except for the portion of "show me your papers". Authorities will have the power to check their status if they have found them suspicious about their US status.

Farmers Branch's Legal team points out that its resolution is different from the Arizona immigration law. The Supreme Court did not hinder illegal immigrants from renting properties.

The legal team of attorneys for the landlords and renters who sued the farmers Branch believes that they have over step  the power of implementation illegal immigration laws reserved only federal authorities.

Farmers Market has already spent $6 million on legal bills and expenses related to illegal immigration which can be used for Education and health care.

Mayor Bill Glancy thinks that the town loves minorities even though there were complaints from legal immigrants that local authorities are harassing them pointing out the free English classes being offered in Public Library.

"They're against illegal immigration," Glancy said of his town's residents. "They have supported legal immigration for a long time."

Texas man freed after DNA clears him of 1988 rape

Texas News-Having a life away from your family is like living in darkness. Much worse if you are go behind bars for allegedly committed a serious crimes you know yourself you did not.

In FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) a man who spent more than two decades behind bars was finally freed from serving his sentence in jail. It was through DNA test that set him free. The test proved that he was truly innocent from the crime that was pointing on him.

David Lee Wiggins was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in 1989 from raping a 14-year-old Fort Worth girl.

The DNA testing earlier this month excluded Wiggins as the person who committed the crime. Tarrant County prosecutors said DNA evidence demonstrated his innocence.

‘‘I hold no bitterness,’’ Wiggins said in court after the judge’s ruling. ‘‘I'm thankful to Jesus Christ. He said he could move mountains, and surely this was a mountain. ... And to the victim: I'm not mad at you. I don’t hold you responsible.’’

The truth will set you free. No matter how long it takes just don’t give up. Forgive those who do you wrong and you will be rewarded just like what happened to Wiggins.

After his conviction is formally reversed, Wiggins will be eligible for $80,000 a year in compensation that Texas pays to wrongfully convicted ex-inmates.

The amount he will received cannot compensate for the years that was lost to him and to his family. But it was a big help for him to start a something new and to have a better life outside the prison.

Wiggins would be the second person to have a conviction overturned by DNA in Tarrant County since 2001. It only shows that mistaken identity in Texas is serious.

Wiggins said he agreed to be in a police lineup in 1988 because he knew that he didn’t commit the crime and thought he had nothing to worry about. Instead, it led to a 24-year nightmare that ended Friday.

‘‘I always believed the truth would come out,’’ he said.
Having mistaken as a criminal could destroy everything you have. It is a very serious crime that should be stop because it can ruin the life of innocent people.

Randy Travis Assaulted The Husband of Her Friend

Texas News-Randy Travis was named for an assault that took place at Prestonwood Baptist Church parking lot last Thursday night. A married couple was arguing and he suddenly stepped into the argument.

According to the spokesman of the city police, Travis was under the influence of alcohol. "Witnesses are reporting and our investigation revealed that Mr. Travis assaulted the husband," added by Officer David Tilley, and that Travis was a friend of the wife.

No injury was reported but the cause of the incident remains unclear. A traffic ticket was issued to Travis since the incident happened in the parking lot. Tilley said, "It must have been something very minor, I can tell you that," and he added that an offense of unwanted physical contact could be charged to Travis. The singer was born in South Carolina and was a Grammy Award winner.

A few of his well-known songs are “Out of My Bones” and “Forever and Ever Amen”. Though he was famous the law exempts no one so he would still have to face the local court to deal with his offense. No comment was given by Travis’ side.

"I've seen the reports and I don't know where they're getting this information," Tilley said and added that he is in doubt that Travis was intoxicated by the media with the incident. Travis was also found to be lying naked on the road near his car by a Texas trooper earlier this month.

He was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and run into highway construction barriers and retaliation earlier this month according to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.

Five Children Died in Latest Texas Car Accident

TYLER, Texas –  A tire exploded on an overloaded SUV, causing a rollover crash that killed five children and injured five other family members as they headed to a Texas waterpark, investigators said Tuesday.

The SUV was carrying 12 people, including nine children, Monday afternoon when it crashed near Van, about 70 miles east of Dallas, according to Department of Public Safety trooper Jean Dark. The passengers were wearing their swimsuits and the children were all siblings or cousins, Dark said.

The driver, 36-year-old Federico Acuna, and a 15-year-old girl were the only two wearing seat belts -- and the only two not hurt in the crash, Dark said. Acuna lost control of the vehicle, which rolled several times before coming to rest on its top, she said. Ten passengers were thrown from the vehicle, she said.

Two boys and three girls died in the crash, while three other children and two adults were injured, she said.
The GMC Envoy was carrying too many passengers and had no child safety seats, Dark said. No charges have been filed and an investigation is ongoing.

The DPS identified the children who died as: 13-year-old Rosvaelia Jaimes; 7-year-old Omar Jaimes; 6-year-old Saideth Acuna; 3-year-old Ulisa Acuna; and 2-year-old Urit Jaimes.

The family came from Marshall and had been driving to the Splash Kingdom water park in Canton, about 55 miles east of Dallas.

After giving up eight runs twice in his first three Texas starts, Dempster limited the surprising Baltimore Orioles to a first-inning run and allowed only four hits over eight innings in a 5-1 victory Monday night.

Texas School District Financing Woes

Education is the only wealth that cannot take away from you. It is with you wherever you go. Education can make you a better person and it is a gift that you can share to everyone. We can get education by studying in the school that our government usually provides.

The government sets a budget for the people for education. They build schools; provide books, table, chairs and everything that a student needs for his education. This budget is coming from the taxes that the citizens pay for the improvement of the country.
